Dr Aaron Brown

Research Interests: Youth Justice

 

Research Areas: Youth justice; devolution; participation, minimum age of criminal responsibility

 

Education: 

Aaron holds a BA (Hons.) from the University of Exeter, along with a PG Dip. (Social Research Methods), MA (Applied Criminal Justice and Criminology) and PhD (Criminology) from the School of Law at Swansea University. He is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

 

Work Experience:

Most recently Aaron has worked as a Research Associate at the Children and Young People’s Centre for Justice (CYCJ) at the University of Strathclyde. Prior to this role, he was Unicef UK’s Youth Justice Specialist. 

 

Research Experience: Aaron has carried out youth justice and children’s rights research across a wide range of projects. He has co-authored reports commissioned by Government, as well as Health and Social Care Partnership, relating to children and young people in conflict with the law.  Whilst at Unicef UK, he authored a comprehensive youth justice report looking at the devolved and non-devolved policy contexts in which youth justice functions in each of the UK nations from a children’s rights perspective. He also continues to peer-review publish in the areas of youth justice and children’s rights.
